George Kester, Sr. is the oldest burial by tombstone inscription in the Palestine Cemetery. His tombstone inscription:
KESTER, George d. 5-10-1838 age 61yr 2d WAR 1812;
Elizabeth d. 11-10-1838 age 61 years (same stone)
The Will of George Kester - dated 4-11-1838; proven 6-12-1838 (Darke Co, OH
Minute Book 4, page 408). Wife, Elizabeth, to live on plantation located in
SW Section 14, Township 11, Range 1 and to have rent from same during her
natural life. Rest of estate to be divided equally between sons and
daughters (not named). Executors: son, George Kester and son-in-law,
Michael Eby. Signed : George (his mark) Kester. Witnesses: John Ketring
and Abraham Weaver.
